π° Nuts About Dee's Berries Billboard Installed
The new Nuts About Dee’s Berries billboard is officially standing along Highway 104 in Brodhead, Wisconsin, marking one of the most visible milestones yet in the development of our future agroforestry U-pick farm.
Β
For years, this farm existed mostly on paper, maps, grant applications, planting plans, and countless hours of research. Seeing our billboard standing beside the road makes everything feel a little more real. What was once simply a vision is steadily becoming a reality.
Β
What This Billboard Represents
Β
While the billboard itself is exciting, it represents much more than a sign along the highway.
Β
Over the past several years, we have been working to establish a diverse agroforestry farm focused on perennial food production, environmental stewardship, pollinator habitat, watershed protection, and educational opportunities for our community.
Β
Next week, thousands of trees and shrubs will begin going into the ground as we establish one of Wisconsin’s most diverse agroforestry plantings.
Β
Future crops will include:
π° Chestnuts
π₯ PawPaws
π Bush Cherries
π« Juneberries
π« Honeyberries
π Currants
π· Aronia Berries
πΏ Seaberries
π° Hazelnuts
π Persimmons
β¦and many other specialty fruits, nuts, and berries.
Β
When Will Harvests Begin?
Β
One of the most common questions we receive is when visitors can expect fruit and nut harvests.
Β
Many of our berry-producing shrubs are expected to begin producing harvestable crops between 2027 and 2029.
Β
Our larger tree crops, including chestnuts, pawpaws, persimmons, and several other species, are expected to begin meaningful production between 2030 and 2032.
Β
Agroforestry is a long-term investment. Unlike annual crops, these systems take time to establish, but they can provide food, wildlife habitat, carbon sequestration, and environmental benefits for decades to come.
Β
From Empty Field to Food Forest
Β
What looks like an open field today will eventually become thousands of fruit- and nut-producing plants, pollinator habitat, wildlife corridors, educational opportunities, and a destination where families can experience foods many have never tasted before.
Β
As the farm develops, we’ll continue sharing planting progress, behind-the-scenes updates, educational content, workshops, recipes, and seasonal farm news.
Β
Β
A special thank you goes to Matthew Rolli and Rolli Worx LLC for designing and installing this beautiful billboard.Β Matthew helped bring our vision to life and created something that will welcome visitors to Nuts About Dee’s Berries for many years to come.
Β
We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported this project and helped move it forward.
Β
Every milestone brings us one step closer to opening the gates and sharing this farm with our community.
Β
We can’t wait to welcome you in the years ahead.
