Aronia Apple Crisp
β¨ Intro Paragraph
Fall on the farm brings cool breezes, golden leaves, and the unmistakable aroma of fresh-baked crisps wafting from the kitchen. One of our absolute favorites at Deeβs Nutz and Berries is this Farmhouse Aronia Apple Crispβa rustic dessert that celebrates the deep, tart bite of Aronia berries softened by the mellow sweetness of apples. Itβs a staple in our farmhouse kitchen and a treat we canβt wait to share with you when our orchard opens to the public in 2028.
Aronia berries (also known as chokeberries) are native to North America and were traditionally used by Indigenous peoples for their powerful medicinal properties. Today, theyβre considered one of the most antioxidant-rich fruits on the planet. If youβre curious, Oregon State University Extension shares fascinating insights on their health benefits.
Weβre growing several varieties here on the farm, and you can even visit during our Aronia U-Pick season to taste them right off the shrub. But until then, this warm, crumbly crisp is the next best thing.
